WEBINAR
RECORDINGS

Webinar Recordings

One of the ways in which Bladder Cancer Canada supports patients and caregivers, is to empower through education that facilitates the best possible outcome and quality of life for all. Because we understand that in-person meetings might not come to your area, and because there are some topics that are sensitive and best learned in privacy, we began offering free live webinars in 2018. All webinars will be recorded and posted here for those who are unable to join live and anyone who wishes to watch them again.

Patient Webinar: Demystifying Bladder Cancer Surgeries and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy for Management of Outcomes

April 27, 2021

Featured presenters:

Christina Dzieduszycki
Registered Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist (Hons Kin)

SUMMARY:

This is a Patient Support Groups Special Presentation.

Join Christina Dzieduszycki, Registered Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist (Hons Kin) in this presentation on “Demystifying Bladder Cancer Surgeries and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy for Management of Outcomes”. Recorded at our April Hamilton Support Group and facilitated by BCC volunteer Alex Huang, this presentation gives special consideration to the male experience but much of the learnings can be applied to women living with a bladder cancer diagnosis and/or the removal of their bladder. In addition to this presentation, we are happy to make available a recording of a virtual workshop held for both bladder cancer prostate cancer Patients in May 2021. The workshop was also run by Christina. This hands-on workshop provided a plan to exercise the core group of muscles to help with incontinence, bowel movement, flatulating and managing scar tissue remodeling – an often overlooked bi-product of surgery to remove the bladder and prostate. To access this recording, please send an email to info@bladdercancercanada.org.

Coping with Bladder Cancer and COVID with Resilience and F.L.A.R.E.

December 17, 2020

Featured presenters:

Clair Edmonds
Registered Psychotherapist

Bette Thom
Bladder Cancer Survivor
BCC Volunteer

SUMMARY:

COVID-19 has added additional challenges and burdens for people facing bladder cancer.  Being diagnosed with cancer (and receiving treatment) is difficult at the best of times, but the social and emotional implications intensify when the typical supports are inaccessible or unavailable altogether.

Attendees of this online event will learn strategies and resources to help cope with the pandemic for the long-term, and the uncertainty of appointments and treatments being delayed or cancelled as result. For some, the challenges will be compounded by the approaching holiday season. We’ll also highlight some of the psychosocial issues that have been addressed in our support groups, and how these online meetings might be right for you.
