The purpose of these grants is to support the development of outstanding Canadian research scientists and clinical cancer research investigators who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the understanding and treatment of bladder cancer. Investigators may be working in basic, translational, clinical, epidemiologic, bioengineering or any other field, but must be working in a research environment capable of supporting transformational bladder cancer research.

Dr. Stephane Bolduc:
Investigate how Bisphenol (a chemical used in manufacturing plastics) induces changes in the cancerous connective tissue of lab-grown bladders.
Dr. Indra Gupta:
Study Osr1, a tumour suppressor gene that can lose its suppressing ability, and its important role in the development of bladder cancer.
Dr. Madhuri Koti:
Monitoring the immune system response to treatment in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer who did not respond to BCG immunotherapy because of a biological sex-based reduction in immune system functioning.
Dr. Charles Graham:
Improvements in immune system function/response from BCG immunotherapy in patients with bladder cancer.
Dr. Wassim Kassouf:
How immune system anti-tumour cell functionality in patients with muscle invasive bladder cancer affects the outcome of radiation therapy.
Dr. Dirk Lange:
How microorganisms (e.g., bacteria) that live in the bladder affect the outcome of BCG-induced immunotherapy for patients with bladder cancer.
