We have much to celebrate in our October newsletter.
Updates on our 2020 virtual walk, CUASF co-funded research grants and new board members!
Newsletter Highlight: This year, your support was more important than ever before.
It’s no secret. Many charities are struggling with fundraising this year and “more than 70% of charities in Canada are expecting to raise less money in 2020,” according to the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
At Bladder Cancer Canada, we recognised the need to change the format of our Awareness Walk early on – from in-person events to a month-long campaign of virtual activities. Collectively, and despite much uncertainty and hurdles, we rallied hard to raise funds to support patients, increase awareness and fund research.
In the weeks leading up to September, as hundreds of Canadians collected thousands of donations and followed through by walking in their own “back yards”, we watched our numbers climb.
At the time of this email, we have collected $432, 259.39 in donations – which works out to about 72% of our $600,000 goal.
Let’s take a moment to let that sink in.
In a year when so many charities have struggled to raise funds, we were able to raise more than $400,000. That’s impressive and it’s thanks to supporters, donors and walk participants, like you, that we were able to accomplish what we have so far. (And it’s not too late to bring that number even closer to our goal – you have until October 31st if you have just a little extra to give. Visit www.bccwalk.ca to donate).
