Happy New Year!
Settling into my role as “Past Chair” of Bladder Cancer Canada I reflect early in this new year upon the blessings we can appreciate at Bladder Cancer Canada.
As this New Year begins, our Executive Director Michelle Colero and her Team are hard at work on delivering services to our patient community. Our new Chair Michele Zielinski and Vice-Chair Tony Cornacchia have provided stimulating dialogue with our board on visioning the future and updating our strategic plan so that BCC remains vibrant along our journey.
As I reflect on my years as Chair, I am so thankful for the team that I had in my fellow board members. In particular, I look back with tremendous gratitude to Robert Purves who served as Vice Chair through these challenging COVID times. There was also a period of time where Rob stepped in as the organization’s Administrator when we were between Executive Directors. Rob has served as Treasurer for our organization for a number of years and his stewardship has put Bladder Cancer in a very solid position financially. We have established a strong base for continued growth for the years ahead. Deep appreciation to Robert for his volunteerism and expertise. He is one of the many board members that give so much to ensuring our success at BCC.
I also want to thank and celebrate retiring board members Elliot Rivkin and Dorothy Barrett. Elliot has been the lead on our critical awareness campaign placement coast to coast to coast delivering millions in advertising value all these years. Dorothy was our Maritime and Atlantic Canada regional voice and we are so thankful for her years of service.
Wishing Elliot and Dorothy the very best in the new year with thanks for their service.
For those in our bladder cancer community who might be interested in playing a role as a volunteer or getting more involved, please be sure to contact us by email at info@bladdercancercanada.org and see how we can take you up on your interest in making a difference.
Wishing our bladder cancer community a happy and healthy 2022.
