We are excited to announce the launch of our new Hematuria Brochure, created to empower both the medical community and patients with the knowledge needed to recognize one of the most critical early warning signs of bladder cancer—blood in the urine, also known as hematuria.
Thanks to feedback and input from our passionate community of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, we have developed this easy-to-understand resource aimed at increasing awareness of hematuria as a potential warning sign for bladder cancer. The message is simple: Never ignore blood in your urine.
Early Detection Matters
Hematuria is the first and most common sign of bladder cancer, yet it is frequently overlooked or misdiagnosed. Investigating the cause of hematuria can lead to early detection of bladder cancer, which may improve treatment outcomes and patient prognoses. This brochure provides important information outlining the significance of hematuria, why investigating it is essential, and next steps for addressing detected hematuria. It is designed to be a quick reference for physicians and for individuals themselves if they notice symptoms.
Our Commitment to Raising Awareness
We will be mailing this brochure to doctors’ offices across the country during Bladder Cancer Awareness Month this May. We are committed to making this resource widely available and hope it will spark important conversations between patients and doctors, leading to earlier diagnoses and better outcomes for those facing bladder cancer.
Thank You to Our Team
We’d like to thank Mia Papasideris for creating the content of the brochure, as well as Priyanka Yolmo, Dr. Luke Lavallee, Dr. Aly-Khan Lalani, and our dedicated volunteer team for their final review.
