Corporate Donations

Support a cause that makes a lasting impact. By donating to bladder cancer patients and their loved ones nationwide, your corporation can transform lives while building a legacy of corporate responsibility.

Align your brand with meaningful change, strengthen community ties, and inspire employees and customers alike. Your contribution isn’t just a donation—it’s support, awareness, and research for Canada’s 5th most common cancer. Donate to Bladder Cancer Canada today to make a measurable difference.

The Taxable Benefit to Your Corporation

Just as individual donors can receive federal and provincial tax credits, corporations are eligible for tax deductions too.

Federally, corporations can receive a tax deduction for their charitable donations, which reduces their taxable income. Donations are deductible up to 75% of the corporation’s net income for the year, and unused portions of the deduction can be carried forward for up to five years.

Similarly, provinces and territories allow for the deduction of charitable donations from corporate taxable income. Rates and rules align with the general corporate tax structure in each jurisdiction.

Corporate donations provide more than goodwill—they also offer real tax benefits for corporations, lowering taxable income while building community impact.

Example of Tax Savings: $1,000 Corporate Donation

A $1,000 corporate donation will reduce the taxable income by $1,000.

The reduction in tax payable depends on the combined corporate tax rate. For example, in Alberta, the general corporate tax rate is 23% (15% federal + 8% provincial). This would result in tax savings of $230, calculated as 23% of $1,000.

Small businesses may be subject to a different rate. For example, a small business in British Columbia would have a combined small business tax rate of 11% (9% federal + 2% provincial). This would result in tax savings of $110, calculated as 11% of $1,000.*

What Counts as a Gift for Registered Charities

According to CRA guidelines, for a donation (or gift) to a registered charity like Bladder Cancer Canada to qualify and allow issuance of a tax receipt, certain conditions must be met. These include that the gift must be given voluntarily, must involve a transfer of property (i.e. not just service or labour), and the donor must not receive a significant advantage in return.

*Calculations are based on tax rates effective for the 2023 tax year.

The information on this website regarding corporate giving is for general purposes only and should not be taken as tax, legal, or financial advice. Be sure to consult a financial advisor before making any decisions.
