Tony Cornacchia was diagnosed with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer in 2014, which progressed to metastatic disease in the fall of 2016. His personal experience navigating diagnosis, treatment, and progression has shaped his deep commitment to patient advocacy and education. Tony has seen significant success through participation in a clinical trial, reinforcing his belief in the importance of research and innovation in improving patient outcomes.
Shortly after his initial diagnosis, Tony sought information and answers related to the global BCG shortage—the gold-standard treatment for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer—which led to his introduction to Bladder Cancer Canada. Since 2018, he has been an active volunteer, providing peer-to-peer support to patients and caregivers seeking guidance, shared experiences, and encouragement.
Tony is a passionate advocate for bladder cancer awareness and does not miss an opportunity to promote education, advocacy, and patient-centred care. He values collaboration with the medical and research communities and continually seeks opportunities to learn and contribute meaningfully.
Tony lives in Toronto and is the proud father of two adult daughters, who are a constant source of joy and inspiration.
