Angela's father was diagnosed with bladder cancer later in life and was able to have it treated in a timely fashion. At the time Angela was working with Cancer Care Ontario and knew that the signs and symptoms were not to be left untreated and encouraged him to seek his family physician's diagnosis. Understanding that her father was fortunate and that not all bladder cancer patients have the same knowledge up front, is what inspires her to be part of the vision where bladder cancer is just a memory. With over 20 years in the digital space, 15 of those in healthcare, with 8 years in Cancer specifically, Angela understands the need to create awareness, the need for support and the value in providing access to tools and resources to support patients and their families throughout their cancer journey.
Her passion for healthcare is personal, she has spent 15 years in local, provincial, pan Canadian and Global healthcare organizations and is driven by the opportunity to leverage digital tools, resources and systems to improve access, reduce the burden and support the healthcare system's growing demand.
She has led transformations, brand, and marketing engagement across product/system design in healthcare for providers, patients and the healthcare system and what motivates her is the opportunity to positively influence effective healthcare changes. She completed her Master of Design in ICT at OCADU in Inclusive Design, where universal design principles are the driver of digital design aligning with her belief that digital products and services should always be designed with utility and inclusion in mind. Angela brings a strong understanding of digital design and development and combined with her knowledge and passion for healthcare she strives to leverage cost effective tools and systems to bridge access to care.
Angela is an avid reader, when she isn't reading you can find Angela spending time on the soccer pitch with her teenage daughter and the occasional gaming session with her teenage son. As a family they love to travel and her downtime is taking the time in the kitchen to make a nutritious and tasty meal.
