This year, support starts at home, says Dr. Dionne Duncan, of BCC Walk

By Bladder Cancer Canada | Latest news and stories | 30 June, 2020 | 0

We met up with our Executive Director Dr. Dionne Duncan and her good friend Mel on the waterfront in beautiful Port Credit, Ontario. Dionne and Mel demonstrate how we can support each other this September during our virtual walk – while staying apart.

“We’re changing the event format this year as a result of social distancing requirements and recommendations, and are instead encouraging participants to walk during the month of September in very small groups in their own neighborhoods or on a treadmill at home, while still raising funds for Bladder Cancer Canada,” says Dionne. “Even during a pandemic, Canadians facing bladder cancer need our support, and this year, support starts at home.”

Despite the challenges that 2020 have presented, we are still hopeful that we will meet our fundraising goal of $600,000 in support of our mission. This year has presented new challenges for everyone, but we’re poised for success with a new plan to make the 2020 walk as fun and engaging as ever – after all, Canadians facing bladder cancer always need our support!
