Dorothy first contacted BCC in 2013 through a reference from her urologist to find out about volunteering with us. Shortly thereafter, she assisted with planning our first-ever patient meeting in Halifax, has been helping to increase awareness in the Maritimes and volunteered at Halifax’s inaugural awareness walk in 2014. She was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2008, and not long after, had surgery to receive a neobladder. Dorothy has a B. A., a B. Ed. and a Masters degree from Mount Saint Vincent University. Now retired, she taught special needs children for 34 years and has significant volunteer experience. We welcome Dorothy as our first board member from the Maritimes.
