TORONTO – June 15, 2018: Bladder Cancer Canada’s national board of directors has advised that Ferg Devins, bladder cancer survivor and former National Walk Lead of Bladder Cancer Canada’s September awareness walk took the reins as Chair of the organization effective June 15th. Current Chair, Ken Bagshaw becomes past chair and maintains a seat on the board of directors.
Ferg Devins was diagnosed with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer in January 2014 and following that underwent surgery and treatments at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Ferg is a communications strategist and held the position of Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Molson Coors Canada, prior to retiring from the brewery in December of 2013.
“I look forward to helping to make a difference in the lives of patients, raising awareness about bladder cancer and Bladder Cancer Canada and looking at ways for the organization to increase support for important research initiatives. Our hope is that such research will completely eliminate bladder cancer some day”, said Devins. “My business and community network across Canada has helped me achieve great success for our annual walk in September. I am hopeful that this network will also help me spread the word and raise awareness coast to coast to coast about the disease and the great work that we do at Bladder Cancer Canada”.
